2012 Putter’s League rules and regulations.
Responsibilities of the executive:
a: to run the week to week affairs of the league as per the rules.
b: to bring matters of concern before the membership (any time) with solutions voted on by members.
a) green fees: flag to flag: for $400 + HST) ( new members will pay $390 + HST)
b) you may golf any Wednesday after 2:00 PM ( and bank these as golf ahead cards, turn in to secretary who will keep them in order and use the first one appropriate for the nine needed, no picking and choosing.).(Will keep the most 2 recent scores per nine)
c) tee time now starts at 4:15 P.M.
Rules and Regulations: (let someone know if you will be absent!)
1. All players must turn in a signed and dated scorecard by Wednesday night. <golf aheads and spares allowed>. No card = no points. (You may golf ahead < build a bank of cards > and turn your card in to secretary. He will date them and keep them IN ORDER per nine and use them as needed for you.) If you golfed ahead and then show up, your advance card counts, however you may have a fun round for skins, closest to the pin, 1 pt for golfing with opponent, etc.
2. One man teams will be used for league and tournament play.
Each week you will have a scheduled opponent. If you golf the correct nine ( with opponent or if he is absent) you get 1 point. Match play advantage is 80% of hcp difference. Win your match play get 4 points. Tie = 2 points each. Lose = 0 points. Medal points are decided by your NET score versus the NET scores of the entire league. You get 1 point for every player that you did better than. Worst Net score gets 0 points.
Therefore each week goes like this:
Golf correct nine + win match play + beat 7 Net scores = week`s total
1 + 4 + 7 = 12 individual points.
3. Each week a $5 prize will be awarded for closest to the pin, best second shot or any other activity that the executive deems appropriate.
4. Three or 4 man teams will be formed by luck of the draw <one from each handicap level>.
Separate and distinct teams for each half of season. Each week, the NET scores of team members are totalled Low total gets most points, high total gest least points. (If a spare is used, his net score counts as a team member). If one team member is absent, the remaining total is multiplied by 4/3. If two team members are absent, that team gets one point. Team with most points for each half is rewarded.
5. All prize $$ will be determined by the # of league members and points earned at the End of the season.
6. You must golf (in person or ahead) or have a spare to earn any points.
Only league spares are eligible. (Any person 19 or older may become a league spare by golfing with us to establish a handicap.) If a NEW player shows up (no league hcp), the handicapper after consulting the new player will assign a handicap. (E.g.42 golfed – 36 par = 6 hcp).
7. No lowest possible NET score <<highest possible handicap = 20 (nine holes).
8. League members are under scrutiny for demeanour and behaviour subject to league review as per membership status.
9. Players missing 3 consecutive weeks without good reason will be dropped from the league.
10. Any week`s scheduled matches cancelled for any reason (e.g. rainout, course closed) will not be made up – except for one rain make up each half.
In case of rain at designated tee time: 50% of golfers (who started at that time) must finish (else the night will be cancelled.). (2 or more) executive members have until 4:3 to declare postponement due to rain. If 50% of starting players do complete nine holes and several players get stranded on course, only those completing 6 or more holes will average the holes completed to calculate scores for unplayed holes.
11. A player`s handicap will be determined each week as follows:
week 1: last year`s average
week 2: last year`s average + week 1 = divided by 2.
week 3: average of week 1 + week 2 + last year`s average.
week 4: average of 1st three weeks.
week 5 and on: average of best 3 of last 4 games.
Tournament and championship handicaps will reflect your current league handicap.
12. League dues: $125 will be paid to the treasurer no later than the 1st Wednesday in May.
Members who have not paid by that golf night (after golf) will forfeit any points earned after that date, until they are paid up. These points are NOT retro-collected.
13. If two or more golfers are tied for the lead, at the half, then a nine hole playoff will be held to determine the winner (medal play only). If after nine holes, a tie still exists, sudden death will apply. Same applies for 2nd half.
14. If the same golfer wins both halves, he will be declared league champion. On championship night, he will play against the person with the second most points for designated prize money.
15. Championship night will be a nine hole (medal play only) competition on a first come first play basis. Opponents will be determined by the number of points earned for the entire season.
The Championship match ( 1st 1/2 vs 2nd 1/2 winners) will have tee priority (twosome if desired).
Members must golf at least 2/3 of half season (7 matches)(with league members or a witness) to win half season championship. Members must golf 2/3 (14 games) of entire season (with league members / on league nights/ with witness) to win major prizes (e.g. most improved, champ, etc.).
16. A weekly 50/50 draw will be held. Each league member is assigned two squares (more are optional) of 50. Weekly prize = $25 or to be determined.. After league members purchase their squares; the remainder may be sold at large. Any person with a square is eligible for league tournament prize money. Guests at field days will pay 5$ to enter skins pots. Any draw winner who has not paid for squares (league members = league dues) will have his win recorded and $$ will be paid after dues are paid.
NOTE: stroke advantage (medal play) = handicap difference. Hole advantage (match play) = 80% of stroke advantage.
Local: rules apply; then C”G”A” rules apply, talk to your opponent about unsure situations. If a dispute arises, finish the round and talk to the rules committee before turning in your score card.
If your ball falls in a PROTECTED AREA, a stroke penalty will be added to your score and ball is to be dropped within 2 club lengths from point of entry. On #10 ball will be dropped left of cart path from point of entry within 1 club length.
Know your rules!!! You may only move your ball by designated small trees…ball must be dropped from shoulder height. If a small tree is not designated then a majority within the group will decide if it is to be deemed designated. You must play your ball where it lies (except your fairway) or count a penalty stroke.
